Back in Bath

I have travelled down to Bath to visit my parents for the week over Easter. I'm constantly checking my email for news of the possible job opportunity at Graduate Fashion Week... I am also trying to plan another visit to Bath later in April, as Bath is hosting their own fashion event 'Bath in Fashion' (see also: 1 and 2) I hope to get the time to go, but University is more than busy at the moment, what with all the samples and a whole pair of trousers we have to complete, along side various other pieces of work for both the Fashion Practice and Professional Practice modules. We are also helping a 3rd year fashion student prepare for their final catwalk show. The 3rd year I (and another in my class, Sam) have been paired with is called Nina. A tiny girl, very petite, but with beautiful big ideas. She is designing a 1940s inspired collection, but it has such a modern feel. As she couldn't find a fabric she liked enough to create what she had in mind, Nina designed and printed her own fabrics, a technique I saw recently on the new season of the American television show, Project Runway. I would love to try that myself! As for the help she needs, she wants us to help her retrace patterns, which I hate to admit, is my weakest skill! I am awful, it seems no matter how hard I try it always ends up looking messy. Not what a final year needs to graduate! I am hoping Sam will take care of this, and I can get on with the other things Nina wants us to take care of, such as making scarves and 1940s style hats, as well as sourcing and buying shoes and other accessories for the models.
