I'm In Love...

...With Maggie Semple and Semple Stories... It's my new daily read. Interesting, insightful and fun! I'm a little bit gutted as a few months ago there was an opportunity to intern for Maggie helping set up this blog amongst other things. The unsent email still sits in my outbox; a carefully composed message explaining why I would be perfect for the position... Until I realised that I probably wouldn't have been able to commit to the time period as I am back in Uni soon. I would have probably had to have taken a year out, and I'm kinda wishing I had! Still, I'm going to keep a close eye and maybe send that email another time.

Currently en route to London to meet with one of my oldest and best friends (and by far, the most fashionable!) We are going to go out bargain hunting, vintage browsing and quirky photographing by day, eating delicious foods, blogging and laughing by night..!

All talk!

So much for "updating with a vengeance"..!

The blissful days of the English summer are upon us; picture-perfect clouds allowing the gleaming sunshine to gently glitter through, and a slight breeze in the air. Of course, this is all in complete contention to the thunderous rain storms and muggy air that also comes with the British summertime. I love them both equally, as you would your two children; both with their own unique personalities. It's what makes England so unique!

Temperly for Twinings

I am the proud owner of one of Alice Temperley's limited edition silk scarves, designed for Twinings. Its dreamy blues in floral patterns are stunning, and it is perfect for that evening summer cover up.

Busy as a bee in Summer!

I have been busy, busy, busy, and have neglected my blog... I'm sorry! However, I am back, and will be updating with a vengeance!!

Since the beginning of May I have been interning at Young Ideas Fashion, doing the ecommerce side of things. Recently, two marketing ladies have joined the team, and I've been working alongside them - I've learnt so much! And gained some contacts on the side...

I feel so lucky as it's a paid internship, which is unusual. Sure, it's less than I would be getting working in retail etc., but the experience more than makes up for that! Plus, the people are simply lovely. I've also been looking into fashion promotions as a possible career choice. There are a few internships that I have found, but will have to wait until after I graduate next year to apply, as I doubt I'll have the time or the funds this summer.

We received our module information for next year, and uni looks like it's going to be lots of fun. I can't wait to start back and get into it.

The Trend Boutique

I am currently doing a work placement at The Trend Boutique in Nottingham, which is an online resource for students and lecturers, focusing on, as the name suggests(!) trend forecasting. I have been writing short pieces for the site, and also helping with researching the trends. I have written a much more in depth review on my private "work experience" blog, which is only available to my lecturer, as obviously this is a private company! However, I will be working here for a total of 4 weeks, and will no doubt feature my work for It's a Fashion Life!

You can access The Trend Boutique to find free articles, but it's definitely worth subscribing if you are a fashion student, or just really into fashion, as there are jobs/internships advertised, as well as exclusive content about upcoming events and of course all future trends.

Mary Katrantzou

I've been away for a couple of days as it's been my birthday, and have not been able to keep up with LFW - it's needless to say, my mobile phone is not fashion finding friendly. So I was excited to get home and soak up as much as I could... but one runway show just stopped me in my tracks - and now I can't get it out of my head! Mary Katrantzou's A/W 2011 collection is full of contradictions; the colours are vividly warm contrasted with lucid coolness, the silhouettes are strikingly hard, yet somehow femininely-soft.

Altogether Katrantzou's latest creations are fantastical, brilliant and beautiful, and, bizarrely, very wearable!
